5.9 Future Plans

5.9.1 Regeneration has always been at the heart of our LTP strategy, but we are now developing corridor partnerships as a mechanism to make sure that transport investment is explicitly aligned with wider economic and spatial strategies and supports Local Area Agreements. Fourteen corridors have been identified, based on the main radial public transport routes, but covering the whole of Greater Manchester. Since the submission of LTP2, baseline information on development policies for these corridors has been collected. The next step is to roll out corridor-based action plans on a phased basis, to align the spending plans of different authorities and to achieve local outcome-based targets covering transport, economic and regeneration objectives. Action plans are being developed initially by the local authorities and GMPTA/E, but the intention is to involve other key stakeholders as the approach becomes established.

5.9.2 The Greater Manchester Strategic Plan is being developed to update the 'Sharing the Vision' strategy, and to act as a sub-regional framework for the ten District Local Development Frameworks. Also, all ten planning authorities are preparing Core Strategies for their LDFs.
